The question how to be secular and spiritual is a good one. The Jewish Hanukah festival has been in the news for tragic reasons. The biblical story is of course “absurd” but what matters is how people (of whatever religion, faith or beliefs) come together to share a moment of human warmth, spiritual or otherwise. Bit tangential I know, but here’s a lovely video of NY mayor Zohran Mamdani (a Muslim) joining famous NY actor Mandy Patinkin (a Jew) to light a candle for Hanukkah:

I’m an atheist, but I still think it’s joyful and heartwarming.
