“Spring is about beginning again, and beginning again can be so much harder than staying in the winter of your life”. Tears. Having very much decided to “begin again” - which by proxy means deciding to allow the death of some things- rather than staying stuck in a place of dis-ease and dissatisfaction, I felt this deeply. Thank you for your beautiful words and insight.

Joyous! Thank you for your commitment to marking the turning of the year and sharing it like this. I love "the unstoppable energy of the turning earth". Everything is moving all of the time. When I flow with instead of resist, life unfolds with integrity....

A delightful renewing story. I live in the city but have made the effort to turn my small backyard into a garden with greenery, color, butterflies and wildlife. A peaceful place to enjoy my coffee and start the day. Thank you!

Good stuff JW : ) Oh yes, it can be shake yourself out of winter and grow into a new spring. And have you noticed? I think it gets harder with age; it becomes easier to dive back into that nice warm bed for another 40 winks, or maybe to hibernate from the world. But not all 40 winks are bad! We are probably alone amongst all the animals in being so restless, searching for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sometimes I think we become blind to the good stuff right in front of our noses. Here is a passage from Vaughan (a poem called "Man"):

He has no root, nor to one place is tied,

But ever restless and irregular

About this Earth does run and ride,

He knows he has a home, but scarce knows where,

He says it is so far

That he has quite forgot how to go there.

Just about sums it up! Even so, I can't agree with TS Eliot. Watch the birds chattering, feel the excitement. April is full of hope, with the promise of sunshine. To me it'll always be the best time of the year.

PS Your coming talk sounds dead interesting, hope we can see it on youtube afterwards?

PPS Chickens! Recent research shows they were treated as Gods in pagan times, they only started eating them with the Romans. So maybe the eggs at Easter thing is something else?

PPPS NEVER dig in wet ground or when it's bone hard! And don't use an electric tiller either, unless you want to risk slicing your foot off like me...

Have a great time down in London JW xx

And New life. I feel the same as Tao when I know Jesus is with me in everything I do. I reach out and He is there. Looking forward now to Easter. I also live in the countryside and presently clearing storm damage and building a bonfire etc. The next plan is in fact a vegetable patch. I hadn't thought of broad beans, but definitely runner beans with their bright red flowers. 'Hope springs eternal...' God bless you

I really needed to read this today. I woke up still in the winter of my life and I needed this to start to think of a beginning again.

I love this. Winters are long here in Québec but I do feel the air and light changing (even though it’s snowing again)
